About the event
MBSR Â was developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Associates in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society. Â Â The 8 week course stems from the ever expanding field of Mind-Body-Medicine, becoming internationally renowned as a result of the evidence-based research that highlights its benefit in treating a variety of mental and physical health issues amongst several populations.
What To Expect in this 3hr workshop:
Program activities include: meditation, short talks, experiential exercises, group discussion.
You will learn:
*An introductory on what mindfulness is and what it isn’t
*Formal and informal meditation techniques and rationale for their use
*How mindfulness can be useful in transforming the way we relate and respond to stress in our lives

Prerequisites:
No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required to attend MBSR. To insure safety, participants are asked to provide background information when they register for the program.
Instructor: This program will be facilitated by Nicole LeBlanc (MA, MSW RSW). Â Nicole is a clinical Social Worker andÂ
Qualified Mindfulness teacher. Â She is qualified in the following mindfulness intervention approaches: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) (University of Massachusetts, School of Medicine) and Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) (developed by Dr. Jean Kristeller, co-founder of Center for Mindful Eating NH). Â She is currently a teacher-in-training in Mindfulness Self Compassion Training (MSC) (University of San Diego, School of Medicine) and Mindfulness-Integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MiCBT) (North American Chapter of MiCBT Institute, Ontario Canada). Nicole has been offering mindfulness-based interventions to individuals and groups for over 6 years.
Registration:
Date:Oct. 12th from 6-9pm
Where: Station 33 Cafe & Yoga, 33 Railway Crescent Hampton New Brunswick, E5N5L2. This workshop will be held upstairs in the yoga studio. Parking is available out front.
Cost: $65 CAD for this 3 hr workshop
What should I bring?: yoga mats, back jack floor chairs, and meditation cushions and supports will be provided. Feel free to bring a water bottle and a blanket.
This program would not be appropriate for anyone who is:
* under the age of 18
*currently struggling with an active addiction
* experiencing psychosis
*in crisis
*experienced a recent trauma

Refund Policy: Can be requested 30 days before starting date.
